New features and enhancements
Combine as Spread
Preps now offers users the ability to convert a series of pages selected from individual pages into one full length/height page (spread). Crop marks are automatically adjusted to accommodate the new page size and Fold marks are automatically added if gutters exist between the series of selected pages to indicate fold/spine width dimensions. See Press Runs workspace. (PREPS-12836)
Collation Mark Functionality
A new Static Collation Mark Resource can be defined which is not restricted to the spine or fold area of low and high folio pages. Static Collation Marks can be placed anywhere on the Press Run, but the parameters cannot be saved as Smart Marks for reuse in new Templates and Jobs. See Collation Mark settings. (PREPS-14188)
Imposition Bounding Box Behavior
Imposition Bounding Boxes for classic impositions will now reflect only the imposition from the bottom left page corner to the top right page corner for each Section. This new behavior makes it easier to manipulate multiple Sections on one Press Run. (PREPS-14107)
Expose the Print Dialog window on Save and Return to Prinergy
When using Preps integrated with Prinergy, it is now possible to expose the Print dialog window by pressing Option (Mac) or Alt (Windows). When pressing these options, the Save and Return to Prinergy menu function becomes the 'Print' function. (PREPS-14025)
Collation Mark Placement
Smart collation marks can now be placed on the front, back, or both sides of the sheet (Press Run). See Common settings for SmartMarks. (PREPS-11625)
Improved positioning of Collation Marks that were defined without a binding style
Preps 7.1.0 introduced a feature that allowed users to define collation mark placement without a binding style. When creating a new smart collation mark or editing an existing smart collation mark, you could select None in the Binding list. This allowed you to define collation marks based solely on the position with respect to the page, on all sides of page 1 in the press run.
In version 7.1.1 and earlier, the direction and position were incorrect. The new behavior in Preps 7.1.3 and later is correct. If you created any templates in Preps 7.1.1 or earlier that use these types of collation marks, you will need to update the templates. See Collation Mark settings. (PREPS-13850)

Learn about what you will do differently in the new version
Reading the release notes for the new version can help you prepare for change.
If you are upgrading from a version that uses static marks, recreate them as SmartMarks before the upgrade
Preps versions earlier than 5.3 do not include SmartMark functionality. If you are using a version of Preps earlier than 5.3, you must create SmartMarks after the migration to Preps 8.
Kodak Preps 5.3 Crack
Before the upgrade, while you are still using the version of Preps that has static marks, recreate your static marks as SmartMarks.
- To learn about SmartMarks, see the Marks chapter in the KODAK Preps Imposition Software User Guide.
- To learn how to create a SmartMark, see Adding a new resource to the Marks list.
If you recreate the static marks as SmartMarks in your current version of Preps, the SmartMarks will be migrated to Preps 8 and you can use them in the new version with no further setup required.
If you do not create the SmarkMarks before the migration, any migrated static marks are automatically converted to SmartMarks when you open a migrated template or job in Preps 8. However, the conversion works only in that Preps template or job—the converted marks are not saved in the Resources library. Before you can create new jobs or build new templates in Preps 8, you must set up SmartMarks.
If you are upgrading from a version earlier than Version 7, be prepared for these changes:
Kodak Preps Imposition Software
- Come and Go templates are handled differently.
Preps now automatically divides sections based on the total page count and logically orders book sections on press runs according to the Come and Go standard. Book section placements cannot be modified in relation to press runs (Signature Information). - Collation mark limitations (new jobs)
Smart Collation marks are now automatically anchored to low, high, or mid folio pages of Product sections. Static collation marks are no longer supported. - Job Notes custom fields are reset to default values after migration. The
